PREPARATION FOR LESSON 4
CONTOURS OF NEW TESTAMENT BIBLICAL THEOLOGY

Before studying the lesson, read Matthew 4:17, 6:10, and 26:29. What is the common theme of these verses? Do these verses speak of the kingdom as already present with Christ, or as still coming? Write down your thoughts about how and when the kingdom of God is established by Christ.

Goals and Objectives of Lesson 4

GOALS

In this lesson, we would like to accomplish the following:

1. We hope you will become enthusiastic about New Testament Biblical Theology.

2. We hope you will make use of all the resources and activities of the lesson to understand the New Testament perspective of the coming of the kingdom.

3. We hope you make some changes in your life as a response to the teachings of this lesson.

OBJECTIVES

When you have done the following, it will show that the goals are met:

1. Use all the resources and complete all the written assignments of the lesson, expressing your attitude toward New Testament Biblical Theology.

2. Obtain a satisfactory grade on the accumulative test, demonstrating that you can identify the following: a) the unique characteristics of New Testament Biblical Theology, b) the perspective of the first century Jews regarding eschatology, and c) the New Testament perspective regarding eschatology.

3. Answer the application questions in the study guides, in which you identify ways in which the lesson has affected you personally.
