PREPARATION FOR LESSON 3
THE PROPHET

In this lesson we will study the topic of Jesus as prophet. There are three sections:

Old Testament Background
Fulfillment in Jesus
Modern Application

In preparation for this lesson, read Deuteronomy 13:1-4 and 18:17-22. Write down what you learn about a true prophet in these passages. How did Jesus demonstrate these characteristics? Read also Matthew 17:1-5. How does this special event confirm Jesus as a prophet?

Goals and Objectives of Lesson 3

GOALS

In this lesson, we would like to accomplish the following:

1. We hope you will grow in your willingness to submit to Jesus' teaching as a prophet.

2. We hope you will make use of all the resources and activities of the lesson to understand the key biblical teachings about Jesus as a prophet.

3. We hope you make some changes in your life as a response to the teachings of this lesson. How does it change the way you respond to Jesus' teachings?

OBJECTIVES

When you have done the following, it will show that the goals are met:

1. Use all the resources and complete all the assignments of the lesson, expressing why it is important to recognize Jesus as a prophet.

2. Obtain a satisfactory grade on the test, demonstrating that you can identify the Old Testament background regarding the office of a prophet, the ways in which Jesus fulfilled this office, and the practical importance of understanding that Jesus is our prophet.

3. Answer the application questions in the study guides, showing how you have applied the teachings of the lesson to your life.
