Goals and Objectives of Lesson 3

GOALS

In this lesson, we would like to accomplish the following:

1. We hope you will become more interested in understanding the story of Cain and Abel better, and that you will see the importance of distinguishing the two family lineages of Cain and Seth.

2. We hope you will make use of all the resources and activities of the lesson to learn the literary structure, the original meaning, and the modern application of Genesis 4:1-6:8.

3. We hope you make some changes in your life as a response to the teachings of this lesson, especially as you apply the lessons from the account of Cain and Abel.

OBJECTIVES

When you have done the following, it will show that the goals are met:

1. Use all the resources and complete all the written assignments of the lesson, expressing your own thoughts and attitudes regarding the teachings of Genesis 4:1-6:8.

2. Obtain a satisfactory grade on the test, demonstrating that you can identify the literary structure of Genesis 4:1-6:8, the parallels between this passage and the experience of Israel at the time of Moses, and the New Testament use of this passage in teaching about salvation in Christ.

3. Answer the application questions in the study guides, in which you apply the teachings of the lesson to your own life.
